The Language of Affiliate Marketing.

In ALL variations of affiliate marketing there are always 3 parties. Those parties are:

  • The buyers (end customers who buy goods/services);

  • The affiliates (the go-betweens, i.e. you and us);

  • The sellers (the goods/services vendors);

Often these parties are known by different names and have different labels on different websites, so to avoid any confusion, we're going to list out all of the common variations.

The Buyer may also be referred to as:

  • the customer;

  • the end-customer;

  • the client;

  • the end-user.

The Affiliate is often referred to as:

  • the publisher (who publishes an ad on a website);

  • the influencer (e.g., a popular TikTok personality);

  • the marketer;

  • the introducer;

  • the intermediary;

  • the network or agency (if it's a company/group)

The Seller may also be referred to as:

  • the merchant (most common term);

  • the manufacturer (especially if it makes the goods);

  • the vendor;

  • the advertiser (i.e. who created the ad and sells);

  • the business;
